The Law Society of Ireland is seeking to recruit a PR administrator responsible for providing efficient administrative support for the Director, and assist in delivering the public relations and event management programme, as well as administrative support for the Policy & Public Affairs Department.

Reporting to the Director of Representation and Member Services (RMS), the PR Administrator will be responsible for providing efficient administrative support for the Director, and assist in delivering the public relations and event management programme, as well as administrative support for the Policy & Public Affairs Department. The position will be offered initially on a two-year fixed-term basis. In the Director’s absence, this position will report to the RMS Manager.

The successful candidate will have a communications / public relations degree or similar, and an ambition to carve out a career in the communications field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Department of Representation and Member Services and the Policy and Public Affairs Department
  • Assist with event organisation, including the Law Society’s Spring Gala, Annual General Meeting, Society dinners, the Justice Media Awards, Job Shadow Day, Communications Day
  • Engage in proactive media relations with the aim of securing positive coverage of the Law Society
  • Maintain media contact and distribution lists
  • Maintain selected service supplier relationships
  • Compile internal and external PR and media reports
  • Arrange transcripts and digital files of broadcast coverage
  • Provide assistance to the Director of RMS, as and when required

Knowledge and Experience

  • A degree in Communications / Public Relations, or similar
  • Demonstrated understanding of public relations
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • A flexible and resourceful attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex / technical information in a meaningful way to a lay audience
  • Some project / event management experience is an advantage
