The Role

The University is seeking a Digital Journalist to help bring the stories of its outstanding researchers, faculty, students, and graduates to the world. The Digital Journalist will have significant scope to mine for stories, plan and produce compelling video content and accompanying written content, and come up with new and novel ways to distribute the content through a variety of mediums.

The individual will be confident in navigating a higher education environment; curious about research from disciplines as varied as Quantum Physics and Medieval Irish; able to plan and conduct interviews with leading academics, university leaders, and students alike; create storyboards and scripts; and have the technical video production and editing skills to create meaningful, insightful video content in a way that is visually compelling, engaging to its audience, and persuasive in its messaging. The Digital Journalist will also bring ideas and experience on the best and latest ways to disseminate and leverage the digital stories and other university assets to various target audiences.

The Digital Journalist will report to the Director of Communications and Marketing, which falls under the Office of External Relations. S/he will work closely with a number of offices and academic departments across the University, among them: Research Development & Support, Graduate Studies, Admissions, and the Development and Alumni Offices.

Periodic evening or weekend work will be required.
